Wakeboard boats exhibit incredible performance and are great vessels for wakeboarding and other watersports activities. However, with such a powerful boat, it’s incredibly important that you drive safely while out on the water—or you could put yourself and others at risk. Read on for tips on how to stay safe while kicking up waves with your wakeboard boat!
Never exceed posted speed limits on the water, even if your boat can go much faster. This will help keep you, your wakeboarding participant, and other boaters and swimmers safe. Follow any signs that direct you to stay out of certain areas or that alert you to obstacles in the water. You don’t want to do any damage to the surrounding environment, either.
While a participant is wakeboarding, two people should remain in the boat at all times. One will operate the craft and make sure it’s heading in the right direction at a consistent speed. The other will have to pay attention to the wakeboarder to make sure they’re in good shape. The second person can help adjust tow lines or relay messages from the wakeboarder to the boat operator, too.
Be courteous to others around you. Slow down and pass other boats to the right, and make sure you’re giving everyone sufficient space to maneuver through the water. Remain vigilant so you can watch for swimmers in the water and any obstacles you’ll need to travel around.
